Commentary:

Online advertising is a form of promotion that uses the Internet and World Wide Web for the expressed purpose of delivering marketing messages to attract customers. Examples of online advertising include contextual ads on search engine results pages, banner ads, Rich Media Ads, Social network advertising, interstitial ads, online classified advertising, advertising networks and e-mail marketing, including e-mail spam.

Every year US market has been spending 2.5% of its GDP on advertising and Online advertising contributes a major portion of this.

Online advertising has become an integral part of Internet, without ads there would not be these many websites running including major websites. It would be impossible to companies to provide cool features without advertising on their website, as advertising is the only source of income for most of the websites.

As the Internet is all about information. Internet users have a strong desire to learn. An ad related to their topic of interest immediately grabs potential customers' attention and forces them to read on.
